August’s Newsletter

Welcome Back Newsletter Subscriber, so glad to see you!
August was a challenging month! – Thank you for your prayers! As we step into new goals and new territory at Valley Schools for Jesus, our first response has been prayer. Recently, we released Eli Ingle as he followed God’s call to attend Northwest Nazarene University. While this meant a season of loss for us as a worship leader, God has already provided. We are excited to welcome Lacey Hastings as our new full-time Worship Leader—a true answer to prayer and a source of fresh encouragement for our team. This past season has not been without challenges. From the loss of a worship leader, to decreasing attendance, to the closing of some Mat-Su High School connections, the weight was heavy on both our ministry and our team. Yet, in the midst of difficulty, the Lord brought a shift—almost like a “refreshing” wind. He reminded us to remain faithful.Faithful has now become our core word for this season. Through every challenge and every change, we hold fast to our vision:Seek Jesus. Be filled. Pour out.

Gathering Night 1, August 10th
On this opening night—while facing the challenges of finding a new Worship Leader and stepping into a new season—we entered into a powerful time of quiet prayer and worship. God stirred in us such a deep heart for prayer that I even asked the team to capture a photo to share in this newsletter. The night was filled with beautiful testimonies and new faces. We had a total of 42 people join us, which was such an encouragement. Walking into August was bittersweet as we released Eli to college to pursue the next chapter God has for him, but this Gathering reminded us of the Lord’s faithfulness.A special thanks goes to Mercy Hale, who led worship that night. With just a piano and a heart full of passion for Jesus, she led us into a powerful place of worship. The entire room joined in, and at moments the worship flowed into prayer and even stillness before the Lord.It was truly a refreshing moment of God’s presence—even in the midst of a world filled with opposition.

Gathering Night 2, August 24th
What a powerful night this was! We gathered in the presence of the Lord, and Aedan Messick shared a message on “Refining by Fire.” He spoke about the struggles we face, the ways God helps us overcome, and how we are refined by His fire. Aedan also drew a clear distinction between two fires—the fire of death and the Holy Fire—revealing the very different outcomes each one brings. That night, we had about 35 people join us—a noticeable drop from our last Gathering. At first, it felt like a setback. But instead of discouragement, the VS4J team pressed into prayer. Through that, God reminded us of the new season He is calling us into: Faithfulness. We’ve come to define this season in a simple way: “We are reaping the harvest that was planted many years ago, and now we plant again—trusting in expectation that a new harvest is coming.”This truth has become our motivation as we move forward into the next Gatherings with fresh vision and renewed hope.
